The unemployment rate for technology professionals averaged 3.6 percent in the second quarter of 2013, which compares favorably to the 7.6 percent unemployment rate for the overall U.S. workforce.
The surprise of the quarter? The best job growth in more than a year in data processing, hosting and related services – that's 2,400 new jobs created with a workforce of more than 250,000. Cloud service providers appear to be increasingly in demand, as the number of jobs posted on Dice containing the word “cloud” hit an all-time high in July and account for six percent of all job postings.
