You may already be social media-savvy and know how to use Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Foursquare for finding top candidates. But the odds are that as a recruiter or HR professional today, you could probably use a little help in that area. You know you need to learn, but you may not be sure where to dive in. Right? Don't worry. Even powerhouse organizations like SHRM are working on expanding their social reach. It's only in the past couple of years that SHRM has begun to embrace social media at their live events. This year at the SHRM National Conference in Atlanta, they created a social media smart bar in a space called “The Hive.” It was a safe space to help people get started in social and to not be afraid to ask questions – even "stupid" ones. On the SHRM trade show floor, I was surprised to discovery that only about 1 in 20 people had a Twitter account. Inside The Hive, the social media experts staffing the "Smart Bars" were most commonly asked about how to set up a Twitter account and send their first tweet. Watch the video to see what other social media questions people asked in The Hive at SHRM – and know that you're not alone.
