Glassdoor recently offered a list of the best cities for jobs, based on hiring opportunities, affordability, and job satisfaction. Many of these cities, it bears noting, are growing tech hubs. Is there a connection there? Glassdoor’s top ten cities for jobs, in order, included:

• Raleigh, N.C.
• Kansas City, Mo.
• Oklahoma City, Okla.
• Austin, Texas
• Seattle, Wash.
• Salt Lake City, Utah
• San Jose, Calif.
• Louisville, Ky.
• San Antonio, Texas
• Washington, D.C.

Raleigh, Austin, and Washington D.C. have all drawn buzz over the past several quarters as up-and-coming technology centers; Seattle and San Jose, of course, have enjoyed full-fledged “tech hub” status for quite some time. San Francisco and Boston—two cities also known for their sizable tech communities—appeared further down Glassdoor’s list, their relatively low rankings probably due to skyrocketing housing costs. While tech companies aren’t solely responsible for those cities’ plentiful job opportunities, it’s undeniable that the tech industry as a whole is hungry for talent at the moment, with accompanying high salaries and perks to draw the best of the best. That can prove very good news for cities that manage to attract the right mix of tech companies, tech pros, and the services to support them.
