HP to Decide PC Division's Fate This Month
HP's new CEO Meg Whitman says the company will decide this month about the fate of HP's Personal Systems Group, expediting a decision that was previously expected to come later in the year. “We have to make a final decision about what to do with the PC division,” she said. “It’s a decision I want to make much faster than my predecessor. I want to make it before the end of October.” Her predecessor, Leo Apotheker, had wanted to spin off the PC division. Meanwhile, the company's acquisition of UK-based software firm Autonomy completed Monday, reports Reuters. The $12 billion deal was initiated in August by HP's former CEO Leo Apotheker.
