Google, specifically the Google Apps division, recently released a video highlighting the security protections employed in its data centers to protect both the facilities themselves and the data stored within their walls. The video, which clocks in at just over 7 minutes, shows off restrictive entry policies complete with biometric scanners, 24-hour manned security monitoring, a glimpse at their server racks, and even how they destroy and recycle old hard drives. Definitely worth watching. This is a great demonstration of the lengths Google goes to in order to protect its customer data, and shows the company loosening its secretive nature, at least enough to prove that it's not full of hot air.
