There’s a lot to be said for thinking positive. But what about thinking negative?
According to Psychology Today, letting a little darkness into your thought process can do you some good in the long run. Psychology Today cites two new books (
The Upside of Your Dark Side and
Rethinking Positive Thinking) that suggest a little pessimism can serve as an excellent motivator for accomplishing tasks throughout the day, while a touch of anxiety can make people more detail-oriented. Other benefits of a negative attitude include an increased ability to see through phoniness, which is great when deal-making. Does that mean a negative mindset is worth any emotional, physical, and mental drawbacks? That’s up to you.
