Want to be more productive? Pull out your smartphone and/or tablet, and turn off all the notifications. By eliminating all those annoying messages that pop up on your screen at inopportune moments, you’re more likely to stay on-task, boosting your productivity.
The exceptions to this rule, of course, are those people whose job requires they rapidly acknowledge and respond to any incoming messages. But for anyone who doesn’t deal with real emergencies on a daily basis, having no pop-up notifications can mean a better chance at a truly uninterrupted workflow.
