Curious about how much an intern at a prestigious Silicon Valley tech company gets paid? Well, wonder no longer: A list of (supposedly genuine) internship offers has leaked online, and the average seems to be roughly $7,500 a month—before you throw in the generous housing stipend. Tiffany Zhong, who posted the list on Twitter and reportedly works for Glimpse Labs, claimed that the data came from a friend assembling “top internship offers.” Jane Street, the global trading firm, came in first on the cash front with $10,400 per month, followed by Fitbit SF at $9,300 per month, and then a host of companies at between $7,000 and $8,000 a month. (Betabeat later confirmed that Jessica Shu, a 19-year-old at Cornell, compiled the list and posted it first at Hackathon Hackers.) Clich here to find a tech internship. The bulk of firms on the list also included a housing stipend valued at anywhere from $1,500 to $5,000 a month. An intern working for Dropbox, for example, would take home $8,500 a month in salary, on top of $5,000 in housing stipends—that’s $13,500 before taxes. While interns generally don’t work for the whole year, that sort of money represents a pretty good haul for someone who’s only just entering the workforce.

This isn’t the first time that word has leaked of Silicon Valley interns’ high salaries. Over the summer, Bloomberg Businessweek reported that prestigious tech companies such as Twitter and Facebook were paying interns as much as $6,000 per month, especially those who displayed an aptitude for coding. While Google won’t allow anyone younger than college students into its programs, Facebook even gave an internship slot to a 17-year-old who’d used the social network’s developer tools to construct a mobile game. Anyone who’s ever done an unpaid internship, feel free to weep now.
