Aptera Software, a development and Web design firm, plans to expand its operations and add up to 17 new jobs by 2016. The Fort Wayne, Ind., company plans to invest $785,000 to renovate and equip its current 13,500 square-foot building. The renovations are expected to be complete in January, allowing the firm to accommodate additional employees and streamline work processes. HiringAptera has more than 70 employees currently, and has already started hiring software developers, network engineers and graphic designers, as well as expanded its marketing and sales teams. Aptera will train its new and current employees. “Both my business partner and I are from Fort Wayne and bringing high-tech jobs to the area is a very rewarding feeling,” said T.K. Herman, Aptera’s president. “Many people have the misconception you have to travel to Chicago or Cincinnati or Atlanta to find talented high-tech talent. We believe the talent exists right here in Indiana and what isn't available locally, we'll bring to the area.” The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Aptera up to $150,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $100,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. The credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company isn’t eligible to claim the incentives.
