Travelocity is beginning another round of layoffs in Texas, a move that will likely impact its IT department as former rival Expedia takes over development at the company. In its third round of Texas layoffs since mid-September, Travelocity notified employees last week that it plans to cut 15 workers from its Southlake headquarters by Jan. 24. These layoffs are on top of the 62 positions it plans to cut from its San Antonio location by Dec. 13. Travelocity already pared 14 positions from its headquarters in mid-September. While the company wasn't willing to offer details on the types of positions that will be cut, the Dallas Morning News reported that the cuts are the result, in part, of its recent partnership with Expedia. Under the partnership deal announced in August, Travelocity will have Expedia power its U.S. and Canadian websites. The companies expect to have their strategic arrangement in place and ready to go in the New Year. Image: Bickstockphoto
