When it comes to the dangers of the Internet, most of us think of identity theft, malware, and hackers. Bad as those are, even scarier things are out there, specifically the use of the Net to keep track of people, what they're doing and what they're saying. The governments using the Net this way include obvious suspects like Iran, North Korea and China, but Australia and England are also active in keeping tabs on their citizens. If you think we're safe from this sort of thing here in the United States, consider this: Many of their measures are based on proposals developed here, like SOPA, PIPA and CISPA.
