Internet payment gateway Braintree plans to triple its staff in the next couple of years, which translates into about 150 jobs for engineers and others. Its new downtown Chicago headquarters can accommodate 220 workers and the company says it plans to hire 40 people, ranging from product managers to software engineers, by the end of the year. The announcement follows closely on the heels of the unveiling of Motorola Mobility's new downtown Chicago digs. Braintree provides credit card payment processing and secure storage of credit card data for companies such as LivingSocial, Angry Birds maker Rovio and restaurant reservation service OpenTable. CEO Bill Ready told the Chicago Tribune he's looking for a range of engineers, from young graduates to professionals with 10 or more years of experience. More important than experience, though, are "great ability and high aptitude and a high willingness to dig in and learn." Among the positions it lists: a designer for websites, interfaces and apps; and software engineers who do agile development and perform their own testing. One of the perks: candidates get to choose their own job titles.
