Orbital/shmorbital. A Dutch entrepreneur wants to move past SpaceX and get people to Mars. SpaceX has been getting all the press lately with last week's successful mission to resupply the International Space Station. But Dutch Entrepreneur Bas Landsdorp -- through an effort he calls "Mars One" -- has a plan to begin colonizing Mars with the launch of four astronauts in 2022. They'll take 10 months to get to the red planet. Once they set up housekeeping they'll be joined by new colonists every two years. And these will be committed people: They're signing up for a one-way trip. Mashable says that although Landsdorp doesn't have SpaceX-level money behind him -- if he has any -- he does have a pretty pragmatic plan. For more details, watch his video:

Seems like a natural for Kickstarter.
