developing an ultra-small computer, the Next Unit of Computing PC. Gone are the days when computers needed a big desk and a lot of wires. Remember
Raspberry Pi, the 85.60 × 53.98 mm single-board computer which is one of the smallest in the world? It comes with a 700 MHz ARM1176JZF-S CPU. Intel's NUC will feature mini Sandy Bridge Core i3/i5 CPUs. It's like a smaller version of Mac Mini. Like the Mini, the NUC will come with Thunderbid, HDMI and USB 3.0 ports. It will also feature two SO-DIMM memory slots, so it will support the same type of RAM as a laptop. And it will have two mini PCIe headers, a Sandy Bridge supported GPU, and Intel HD 3000. Intel hasn't specified a release date, but the ultra-small computer seems to be in the final stages of development. If everything goes according to to plan, we might see it at the end of the year. Regarding price, Fred Birang, Intel's senior product marketing engineer, thinks that it won't “be in the hundreds and thousands range.” Images:
