Apple perfumeDude A: Hey buddy, it's been a while since we met. Wait, what's that smell? Dude B: Yo! It's just my new Apple-flavored fragrance. Dude A: It doesn't smell anything like an Apple. It smells more like a brand new gadget. Dude B: Exactly. It's made to smell like a new Apple product, as in the Apple that makes the iPad, not the ones in the supermarket. Specifically, the MacBook Pro. Dude A: Awkward. OK, so the conversation's made up. But the fragrance is as real as it gets. Air-Aroma, a scent marketing firm based in Australia, has replicated the aroma of a brand new MacBook Pro for a group of artists, who apparently want their exhibition to smell like a mass Apple product unboxing.
The scent requested by our client was quite unusual so we contacted our fragrance suppliers in the South of France to send over samples of fragrances with the aroma of glue, plastic, rubber and paper. Air Aroma fragrance designers then used these samples as ingredients to create a range of signature blend fragrances. The blends, each with unique recipes were then tested in the Air Aroma laboratory until a final fragrance was ultimately selected.
It's one thing to act like an Apple fanboy, but it's another to smell like one. Unfortunately (or maybe not), the fragrance isn't for sale, but Co.Design says that the group is looking for distributors. I figure you could pester Air Aroma to make sure you can get your hands on some of this. But seriously, do you really want to smell like a MacBook Pro? Well, do you? Let us know in the comments below.
