Mark Durcan has been named CEO of Micron Technologies after Steve Appleton was killed in a plane crash last week. Robert Switz will become chairman of the board, and Mark Adams, head of sales, was named company president. Durcan had been preparing to retire in August, with plans to turn his role as chief operating officer over to Adams.
Luke McCormack is the new CIO at the Justice Department. McCormack comes from Homeland Security, where he was CIO of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Linux software developer Greg Kroah-Hartman has been named a fellow at The Linux Foundation, the same position held by Linux creator Linus Torvalds. Kroah-Hartman, a Seattle resident, is an adviser to Oregon State University’s Open Source Lab. He previously worked as a fellow at SUSE Linux.

Object Reservoir, which makes reservoir analysis technology, has announced that petroleum industry veteran Mark A. Miller is its new CTO. Miller served on the petroleum and geosystems engineering faculty of the University of Texas at Austin until establishing a consulting practice in 2001. Since 2008, he has been working on Object Reservoir’s shale gas reservoir engineering software ORKA Limits.
