The thinnest gadgets are popping up at the Consumer Electronics Show in almost all categories. Acer has claimed the title for ultrabook with its 15mm thick Aspire S5, while Toshiba leads the tablet pack with its 7.6mm Excite X10. On the smartphone front, relatively well-known China-based Huawei unveiled its Ascend P1 S, a 6.68mm thick smartphone running on Android Ice Cream Sandwich. It's just 0.02mm thicker than Fujitsu's Arrow ES IS12F, which shouldn't be noticeable at all. However, the Arrow is waterproof, making the trade-off well worth it. Accompanying the Ascend P1 S is the thicker Ascend P1 (without S). At 7.69mm, the Ascend P1 has a beefier battery at 1,800 mAh, comparing to P1 S's 1670 mAh. All else, including a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display (960 x 540) with Corning Gorilla Glass, dual-core 1.5 GHz TI OMAP 4460 Cortext-A9 CPU, 1GB RAM, SGX540 graphics processor, 1.3-megapixel front camera, and HD-capable 8-megapixel rear camera, are common in both devices. Both the devices will be available in most parts of the world, including North America, in Q2 2012. Details on pricing aren't available yet.
