Jetlev Is the Perfect Holiday Gift for People With $100,000

Tablets, tablets, tablets. Everything is tablets. Who wants an iPad 2 for the holiday when word is the iPad 3’s coming out next year?

I want something different. I want a jetpack. Like this one:

It’s the Jetlev R200. OK, so it costs $100,000. Worth every penny. It’s got a top speed of 25 mph, can rise 30 feet, stay aloft for four hours, travel 80 miles, and comes in a choice of nine colors. Sure, you have to haul around a dinghy-sized unit to pump water through the pack with a four-stroke motor. But we’re talking 420 pounds of thrust here. That kind of engineering takes mass.

If I can figure out how to keep a tux dry under a wet suit, I’ll be gold. Daniel Craig, you have peaked.

Nice. Re the tux, I will send you the address of my tailor in Bangkok.

Can you imagine the commuter “fly zone” of the future?

They don’t show more than a few seconds of actual flight at a time; everything longer is slo-mo. What don’t they want us to see?

And what would happen if your leg got into one of those “1000 gallon per minute” jets? Just a bit of bruising, water injection injury (really nasty), or out-and-out amputation?
