Incubator Program Spurs Startup Creation: Fifty entrepreneurs, designers, marketers and engineers went into a room together for three months and came out with 22 new startups. Incubator WeWork Labs was the host for the crowd, only a few of whom already had companies they were working on. The rest partnered up to make new ideas come to life. Now there are more than 35 companies in the SoHo space. Business Insider New York Is First in Clean Tech Jobs: New York's clean economy ranks first in the U.S. in overall size. Its 152,034 jobs make up 1.8 percent of all jobs in the region, the 47th highest proportion. Between 2003 and 2010 New York added 47,849 clean jobs and saw the sector grow by 5.5 percent annually. The Brookings Institution MTA Looking for a Master App: The MTA announced the launch of MTA App Quest, a competition intended to solicit tech developers' expertise in creating apps aimed at increasing access to travel information and to improving the overall travel experience. The competition, which is being run and co-sponsored by ChallengePost, a startup-idea incubator, promises up to $15,000 in prizes, with the winning app developer receiving the grand prize of $5,000. Entrants are expected to harness the MTA's wealth of data to bring helpful information to commuters.
