Watch How NASA’s Going to Pay Industry to Boost Red Shirts Into Space

Okay, it’s a commercial, but it’s a really cool commercial. SpaceX, the private company just awarded a $75 million NASA contract to help prepare its spacecraft to carry a live crew, posted this video to show how its Dragon spacecraft works.  The company already has a contract to fly cargo to the International Space Station once the shuttle program end

My favorite part’s about 1:20 in: The computer-generated crew give each other a high five. Some of the other animation is slick enough to make it hard to tell where live footage ends and animation begins.

  1. who cares what the red shirts stand for.
I’d give my left nut to be an IT administrator or network communications manager on that ship in space.
