Here's something to think about as you ponder the launch date of the iPhone 5: The iPhone may be monitoring your every move. Apparently, iPhones keep track of where its users go, including their latitude and longitude along with a time stamp. The details are saved in a secret file that's synchronized with your computer. That's nice. Especially if your phone falls into the wrong hands. Then, whoever's got it can find out where you’ve been over the last year. To add insult to injury, you can’t stop the data from being collected, or remove it from your iPhone or 3G-enabled iPad. All you can do is secure the information on your computer by selecting the "encrypted backups" options in the sync settings. There's not any evidence that your personal information is being sent to Apple. But it turns out Apple's terms and conditions say:

Apple and our partners and licensees may collect, use, and share precise location data, including the real-time geographic location of your Apple computer or device. This location data is collected anonymously in a form that does not personally identify you and is used by Apple and our partners and licensees to provide and improve location-based products and services. For example, we may share geographic location with application providers when you opt in to their location services.
