Barack Obama on the phoneDo you know difference between one of the most powerful people on the Internet and one of the most powerful people in the world? The former wants a phone that works, just any phone, while the latter wants a cool one. Call it a coincidence if you'd like. Less than a day after Michael Arrington of TechCrunch complained about the lack of a working phone in his office, Barack Obama made a similar complaint. Of course, phones in the Oval Office will always work, but they're not cool enough to meet Obama's standard. These are the president's words according to ABC News:
“You know in the Oval Office always thought I was going to have like real cool phones and stuff,” Obama said last night, “You know, we can’t get our phones to work!  I’m like ‘come on guys, I’m the president of the United States.’  Where’s the fancy buttons and stuff, and the big screen comes up? It doesn’t happen.”
After reading the news, the guys at Microsoft EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) decided that "cool phone" sounds like the kind of phone they are making. They proceeded to offer the president a Windows Phone 7 via Twitter. http://twitter.com/#!/MicrosoftEMEA/status/58915363798257664 @MicrosoftEMEA Tweet Which model do you think Microsoft will send to the White House if the president were to accept the offer? That's a big IF.
