It uses significantly less battery juice than its Bluetooth equivalents, boasting up to nine months of battery life. (No, that's not a typo.) The mouse connects itself to the PC by utilizing the PC's built-in WiFi receiver. It does not depend on a WiFi network, so it doesn't matter whether or not your router is running. The mouse works best on machines powered by Windows 7. The initial setup pairs it to the PC with a step-by-step wizard. It then automatically reconnects for subsequent use. Disregarding the technology behind the scenes, the only real advantage over comparable Bluetooth models is in its lower battery consumption. The Bluetooth mouse has freed PCs from USB dongles or receivers for a while now. So, in the end, HP Wi-Fi Mobile Mouse is a pretty regular mouse:
