GE Capital plans to hire 300 technology professionals to develop new software, processes and technologies at its planned GE Capital Technology Center in New Orleans. The center is scheduled to open this summer at Place St. Charles.

The center has begun recruiting for its first positions, including:
  • Application and Enterprise Architecture
  • Business Solutions
  • Computing Operations
  • Data Management
  • Enterprise Services
  • Networking Services
Place St. Charles is in the city's Central Business District on St. Charles Avenue, two blocks from the French Quarter and on the St. Charles streetcar line. Mike De Boer, the center's CIO, said the location's amenities and convenience contributed to its selection. GE has been opening technology facilities in a number of metro areas lately. The company will hire 400 software professionals for its Global Software Center in San Ramon, Calif. It employs about 800 IT specialists in Detroit, and plans to add some 300 more jobs in Michigan by 2013. Two hundred security professionals work at its Information Security Technology Center in Richmond, Va.
