Not to be outdone by Apple releasing its list of 2014’s top apps, Google has just published its list of the apps most downloaded from Google Play, its online apps storefront, over the past twelve months. As subdivided by category:

Education: Duolingo Health & Fitness: MyFitnessPal Music: Pandora Photography: Flipagram Social: Facebook Entertainment: Netflix Sports: NFL Mobile Travel: TripAdvisor

Health & Fitness represented Google’s fastest-growing app category, which isn’t shocking in light of the number of fitness trackers and health monitors that have appeared (for all platforms, not just Android) over the past six months. To find mobile developer jobs, click here. Top games downloaded from Google Play included:

1. Candy Crush Saga 2. Don’t Tap the White Tile 3. Farm Heroes Saga 4. Subway Surfers 5. Clash of the Titans

Collectively, those playing games from Google Play managed to rack up 3.5 billion achievements. A helpful infographic based on Google’s internal data also offers up the top books (The Fault In Our Stars came in no. 1), news sources (the New York Times topped that list), music (Frozen: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), and television show (The Walking Dead, not exactly a surprise given its ratings) downloaded via Google Play. There aren’t a lot of surprises.
