Bristol-Myers Squibb is shifting 200 positions from its facility in Plainsboro, N.J., to a new, consolidated internal services center in Tampa. An undetermined number of the jobs are in IT, and the company says it will be hiring from the Florida city’s tech community to fill them. The new center is expected to open in January. It will staffed with 250 workers who will provide services to support Bristol-Myers’ North American businesses. An additional 325 employees will be added to the center by 2017. Bristol-Myers wasn’t able to provide a breakout of the type of IT positions that will be stationed at the new center, nor the IT jobs that will be lost in New Jersey. However, company spokesman Frederick Egenolf told Dice News that none of the positions affected are in R&D. Pink slips have already been given to the 100 employees and 100 contractors being let go in New Jersey. They’ll be phased out through the second quarter next year.
