Hiring

 

AT&T plans to hire more than 250 people in Mississippi, largely working in its network operations and call centers. A large portion of the jobs are a result of its Project Velocity IP, a three-year plan to expand its wireless and wired broadband networks. [Dice News] Mendix, an enterprise app platform company, plans to double the size of its headquarters in Boston and hire 20 people over the next four to five months. A third of the positions will go toward hiring technical sales and services, a company representative says. Currently, the company has 25 employees in the city. [Dice News] Airbus is hiring 10 manufacturing engineers in its Mobile, AL facility. They’ll be employed in the electrical, mechanical, system or cabin areas for Airbus and work with its assembly line team. Eight of the positions will begin in November and two in January. Layoffs

Zynga is cutting approximately 18 percent of its global workforce, or 520 workers, as it seeks to reduce costs and move its games onto multiple mobile platforms. The bulk of the employees will be laid off by August and some of Zynga’s offices will be closed. [Dice News] QLogic, a data, storage and networking company, announced plans to cut its workforce over the next 12 months as part of a restructuring. The company will also consolidate some of its engineering activities. It anticipates saving $20 million through the moves. [Dice News] Agilent Technologies plans to lay off 450 employees, or 2 percent of its global workforce, in an effort to strengthen its financial performance. [Dice News] Nokia plans to layoff 50 people at its Fargo, ND, office, representing a 17 percent cut for that particular location. These latest cuts are in addition to Nokia’s plan announced last year to reduce its workforce by 10,000 jobs. [Directions Magazine] Computer services company, Nexicore Services, plans to cut 108 employees from its Simi Valley headquarters on July 6.
