Favi SmartStickIf you are thinking of buying a Smart TV, maybe you should pause to reconsider. The guys from Favi will soon release a smart stick that could turn almost make your existing TV smart, without nearly the expense. As if that weren't enough, this stick comes with specs. Yes, real specs just like a gadget. To make it work you to plug it into your TV via HDMI and USB (to get power). It's compatible with all HDTVs that have the ports and that support 720p and full 1080p video. In addition to a mini-USB port, the SmartStick has a 3.5-mm audio port and a full-size USB port that can be used for a mouse or keyboard. Once you plug the SmartStick in, just follow some simple configuration steps (language, WiFi setup and screen calibration) and you're done. Your TV transforms into an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean smart device that can run apps from Google Play, access Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, HBO Go and Crackle, or audio services like Pandora, Spotify and Google Play Music. It also has an integrated WiFi 802.11 b/g/n chip. To run Android and make all this magic happen, the SmartStick has a secret: It incorporates an ARM Cortex-A9 1GHz processor along with 1GB of DDR3 RAM. The SmartStick will be available in two versions: a 4 GB storage model that will cost $49 and a 16 GB storage model that will cost $79. The memory is expandable through a microSD card extension (up to 32 GB). The little stick could have even more memory than a smartphone or a tablet. If you want to stream content from other devices wirelessly, the SmartStick has a MediaShare app preinstalled that takes advantage of integrated DLNA technology. SmartStick will be available this November at the Favi website, but can be pre-ordered now. It can easily turn an HDTV into a Smart TV, it's not that pricey for what it offers, and it rivals TV streaming-media devices.
