Google MotorolaGoogle seems to be preparing to move 3,000 employees from Motorola Mobility's location in suburban Libertyville 40 miles north to downtown Chicago. The company is looking for about 500,000 square feet of space, enough to accommodate the 3,000. (The relocation wouldn’t involve Google's existing Chicago staff of about 450 sales and tech workers). Crain’s Chicago Business says the potential move signals the fact that Google intends to keep all of Motorola Mobility’s parts, rather than sell off the hardware businesses and keep the patents. Though it's not clear just what Google has planned for Motorola Mobility, it's apparent the unit won't be moving out west.
