The biggest problem with the 'iPod+phone' [concept] was we had a little screen and this huge hardware wheel. Sometimes you have to try things in order to throw it awayPhoto Credit: Gonuu
The iPhone Almost Had a Keyboard
The iPhone with a... a...keyboard? Almost. Initial prototypes included an "iPod+Phone" concept, a QWERTY keyboard and a large touchscreen. When Apple asked Tony Fadell, developer of the iPod, to imagine a phone that used the same design and a click wheel, he considered it, he told TheVerge. Even though now the idea of an iPhone with a click wheel might sound, well, wrong, it's interesting to know Apple considered it. The concept seems somehow similar to the optical trackpad that some BlackBerrys include. Thankfully, Apple opted for the touchscreen and a single hardware button.
