Instagram AndroidInstagram, the popular photo sharing and niche social network app on iOS, is finally heading its way to Android. If you've been waiting one and a half-years after its inception for this moment, you can now register and be among the first to be notified when the app is available. Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom revealed Instagram Android app at SXSW, but didn't give anyone a demo, as reported by TechCrunch. “In some ways, it’s better than our iOS app. It’s crazy,” he said. The Instagram iOS app was almost an instant hit among iPhone users, amassing more than one million users in three months. After a year that number grew to ten million and as of March 2012, the app had more than 27 million users. The growth rate is admirable since its only available on iOS systems. According to NPD's report, Android surpassed the 50 percent share of the smartphone operating system market last year. In comparison, iOS takes up a modest 29%.
