Nokia LogoNokia's pushing to get more developers working on apps for its phones. At this week's Mobile World Congress, Stephen Elop, Nokia's president and CEO, told a keynote audience that the company's "creating a platform to attract third party developers that's far friendlier and far more aligned with the interests of operators all over the world." Making life easier for developers has been part of Nokia's strategy lately. New tools for Series 40 and Qt, for example, allow them to leverage its operator billing services, so consumers can purchase apps through their phone bill rather than pay by credit card. Also the Series 40 and Qt include In-app advertising and try-and-buy features. During his keynote, Elop announced a number of partnerships, including one with Microsoft and Kraft Foods designed to help the food giant reach consumers through mobile phones, PCs, TVs and Xbox. Michelin plans to distribute apps through Symbian, Lumia and Series 400 phones, and the video on demand service Voddler will use Lumia devices as a platform for its services in Europe.
