Hewlett-Packard may not have had much success with its first and only consumer tablet, the HP TouchPad, but apparently its business-centric Windows 7 tablet, the HP Slate, is popular enough to warrant a second generation. And here it is: the HP Slate 2 Tablet PC, a Windows 7 device targeted at "business and vertical markets such as education, healthcare, government and retail, where jobs frequently take users away from a traditional desk." The Slate 2 comes with an 8.9-inch capacitive screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600. The multitouch display supports both finger and pen input, but being a capacitive screen, not all styluses will work on it (of course, the stock one will). HP has also pre-installed Swype, a popular input method for touch screen devices, especially Android smartphones. At its core, the tablet is powered by an Intel Atom Z670 processor, which HP claims will boost performance and improve battery life to up to six hours. The Slate 2 has 2GB RAM, a three-megapixel back camera and a VGA front camera for video conferencing, essential for business users.
