This year it is expected that Apple will release its fifth phone device. During the last few days, rumors started to make their way around the Internet, claiming that we won't see something special this time. Until now Apple hasn't announced anything official, but some sites seem to have found sources ready to talk. The first rumor came from analyst Peter Misek, who said in a research note that the next iPhone (called 4S) will not feature 4G LTE, but instead will have better cameras, better HSPA and an A5 dual core processor chip.
According to our industry checks, the device should be called iPhone 4S and include minor cosmetic changes, better cameras, A5 dual-core processor, and HSPA+ support.
Regarding whether the device will feature 4G LTE, Peter Misek said:
As for LTE, he says the Qualcomm LTE chipset Apple would have used "is currently not achieving yields sufficient for inclusion in the iPhone 5." He says Apple had hoped to have the LTE chipsets ready, but was planning a version without LTE called iPhone 4S.
Also a source from DigiTimes stated:
Apple is likely to delay the launch of its LTE-enabled iPhones to 2012, said the sources, noting that the industry had also long been skeptical about the launch of LTE iPhones in 2011 as the implementation of LTE networks has not yet matured.
Despite this, good news comes for Chinese users: The top three GSM carriers in China – China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom – have expressed interest in selling the next iPhone. Regarding the release date, DigiTime says that the phone should be out in September and will feature an 8 megapixel camera.
Production of iPhone 4S will begin in August and the earliest launch may be in September. All the 3G and CDMA chips for iPhone 4S will be supplied by Qualcomm and the rear camera will be upgraded to a 8-megapixel resolution model with OmniVision Technologies and Taiwan-based Largan Precision to supply image sensors and lens kits respectively, the sources indicated.
So let's hope that after a hot summer, Apple will take us by surprise and once again come up with an iPhone having 4G, an A5 chip, iOS 5, and a new design. Seams like a fairy tale, but if Apple wants it, surely we could get it. Source: CNN Photo Credit: Apple
