It seems that 2011 could be an interesting year for Amazon.com. According to androidandme.com. which has a source inside, Amazon will release this holiday season an “entire family” of Android Devices.
We all remember that not long ago people were talking about an Amazon Android tablet. That rumor had the device being manufactured by Samsung and possibly released this summer.
If true, these devices are perfectly timed: Amazon has a large range of services: Kindle for books, Android AppStore, Cloud Player and Cloud Drive Services.
Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos said in an interview that we should “stay tuned” to see what Amazon prepares. “We will always be very mindful that we will want a dedicated reading device,” he said. But: “In terms of any other product introductions, I shouldn’t answer.”
We can’t make any other assumptions now, but it’s clear Amazon’s getting ready to launch something this year, and all signs suggest an Android tablet. How Amazon will handle it is of interest because Google plans to release a new operating system called Ice Cream Sandwich this year, which will run on mobile phones, tablets and even televisions (through Google TV).
Since Apple, Samsung, Motorola and Blackberry already have tablets on the market, Amazon must come up with something unique, cheap and well-performing. Today, no one can say they’ve made a perfectly balanced tablet, and at the end of the day that’s what everyone’s looking for.
