The U.S. announced a structural reform for IT acquisition and implementation. Beginning in April 2011, new IT initiatives will be measured against a "cloud-first" policy, which would require administrators to opt for cloud-based solutions when at all possible. The government spends $80 billion a year across its technological landscape, and stands to save billions by sharing resources such as e-mail and file sharing.
