The Bureau of Labor Statistics has released its latest sortable chart of the top 50 in-demand occupations for 2006-2016. As is almost always the case with these stats, nothing beats nursing when it comes to the raw numbers of people needed to fill upcoming demand.
But what's more interesting is to sort the chart by projected growth in particular fields. Hit that button, and here is the top 10:
- Network Systems and Data Communication Analysts
- Computer Software Engineers
- Personal Financial Advisors
- Financial Analysts
- Dental Hygienists
- Computer Systems Analysts
- Computer Software Engineers, Systems Software
- Network and Computer Systems Administrators
- Physical Therapists
- Financial Services Sales Agents
So five of the top ten growth areas are IT-related. Impressive. The rest of the list includes only three tech-related fields, which makes it clear tech will be in top demand through at least the next seven years.
If you still feel stuck, at least now you know that if you want to seek an additional degree, dental school is the place to go.
